You may be in for an unpleasant surprise if you buy a hair colour from your local pharmacist and expect it will look like the model’s hair color shown on the box.
The color applied has been pre-bleached. Pre-bleached (banana) hair absorbs hair color quickly. You may end up with an even darker shade.
Try a cocktail of shampoo and peroxide. of 20 volume peroxide, 1 oz. Shampoo 1 oz. Warm water. Stir it well, and start applying the product where your hair is darkest. Wrap your head in plastic and place it under the hair dryer. Check color every five minutes.
Once you are satisfied that the color is lifted enough, use a deep or intense conditioner.
You will need to consult a professional with experience in hair color.
Color will not remove color.
You shouldn’t return to the store thinking that a lighter shade will make the color you just applied appear lighter.
Do not mix brands and always perform a strand-test to determine if you’re allergic to the product.
When choosing a new shade, it is best to examine your current color in natural daylight and decide what you would like to change or add.
Choose a green-base ash if your hair is too red.
Choose a red-toned color if your hair is green.
Choose a color that is blue or violet to counteract yellow hair.
Your hair’s condition has been ruined by the chemical processing. You will need to use a leave-in conditioner each time you wash it.
